Today, we introduce a couple from California who had their bespoke wedding rings made with us. They both working in the biotech field. Before starting the design, we had an online conversation to discuss their ideas for the rings. They truly are a relaxed and easy-going couple!
During our initial discussion, they expressed a desire to incorporate the double helix shape of DNA, a familiar element in their work, into their wedding rings.
After brainstorming and further discussions, we decided to combine this with their love of surfing. The final design reinterprets the precise double helix with the fluidity of ocean waves, reflecting their laid-back personalities.
The wedding rings are designed with a matching style for both, adjusted to their respective sizes.
Inspired by the double helix, the main motif is a turning wave, carved to represent the steady rise and fall of the ocean. This is paired with a lighter, more dynamic wave, detailed with intricate textures, mimicking the glistening sea in the sunlight.
The combination of these two different wave patterns on the rings showcases the fluid motion and sparkling light of the ocean, much like a miniature sculpture, full of layers and mirroring the couple’s personalities.
When carving these rings, special attention was given to the sense of movement in the design. Through multiple experiments and adjustments, we created wave lines that best fit the couple’s character. The way the light dances on the rings as they turn—sometimes fast, sometimes slow, sometimes steady, sometimes lively—truly captures their essence.
